Maintenance Technician – Full-Time

Responsibilities

Assist the Maintenance Director in ensuring that the building and grounds are kept in good repair.  This includes the following:

  • Maintaining Property: Ensuring the property is in good condition and safe for occupants.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Maintaining lawns, landscaping, and other outdoor areas, including tasks like snowblowing, shoveling, mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Cleaning and sanitizing buildings and grounds to ensure a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Safety and Security: Ensuring the safety of occupants by maintaining fire safety equipment, security systems, and addressing any potential hazards.
Specific Tasks:
  • Building Maintenance:
    • Carpentry: Making repairs to wood structures, installing trim, and performing basic carpentry work.
    • Plumbing: Repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and maintaining plumbing fixtures.
    • Electrical: Replacing light bulbs, repairing electrical outlets, and making basic electrical repairs.
    • Painting: Painting and maintaining walls, floors, and other surfaces.
    • HVAC: Maintaining and repairing HVAC systems.
  • Grounds Maintenance:
    • Lawn Care: Mowing lawns, edging, trimming, and fertilizing.
    • Landscaping: Planting, weeding, pruning, and maintaining landscaping features.
    • Snow and Ice Removal: Clearing sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots of snow and ice.
    • Other Grounds Tasks: Litter cleanup, maintaining fences, and repairing or replacing signage.
  • Other Tasks:
    • Moving furniture and equipment.
    • Assisting with special events.
    • Maintaining keys and locks.
    • Inventorying and ordering supplies.
    • Be aware of and follow the Life and Safety Building codes and perform the required checks throughout the facility.
    • Know the Federal/State regulations involving skilled nursing and assisted living facilities.
    • Be available for weekend maintenance and emergency on-call as scheduled.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and know how to operate motorized (gas and electric) equipment proficiently and safely.
  • High school graduate is preferred.
  • A previous successful experience in performing routine cleaning work or manual labor is preferred.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of and have experience with materials, methods, and equipment used in custodial work.
